No, it was the right thread. This thread will be spammed with 2-3 pages of stuff when she comes back. I can see it now.
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

You and I are cool @Salomé, but I have to wonder if you even understand gamers if you're dishing out retorts like that.
Have you considered that I DO understand gamers and that's why I chose that particularly lame game?

It's for people whose real life or real self sucks so much that they retreat into useless fantasy lives/selves/relationships/wastes of shame. As such I think the comparison apropos.

I do struggle to understand its appeal (or the appeal of games in general, which quickly bore me senseless), nevertheless there are people out there who value their "second life" more than their primary one. Which is sad, and symptomatic of the same thing covered in the OP; the same reality disconnect.

lol.. I did consider it. I'll trust my gut next time. I'm surprised you find it hard to understand the appeal though (of other games). Maybe because I'm used to criticism coming from an ethical or social standpoint. You seem like someone who'd have fun with some of the problem solving in games.

I don't doubt the availability of porn is a driving factor in my lackluster desire towards women. Being an introvert compounds the situation further.

For example, I don't approach women at bars. Even when they do approach me (rare) I still don't attempt to "seal the deal". I chat, I bid them adieu, and I leave. Same for when I go out dancing - the song ends, so does our relationship.

I certainly would like to get their number, wine and dine them, take them to my room (or kitchen) someday. I just.... don't.

The alternative is simply more convenient, almost sterile in my level of control.

When I was a child, I enjoyed games. Then I grew up and put away childish things.
Games, like all forms of play, are practice for the real thing. If you never put those skills into practice, what's the point of acquiring them? I use technology to solve problems for a living, why would I want to "play" at something I've already mastered? I need greater challenges/rewards than can be had in the average game of Mortal Kombat. (I mean, if actual mortality were involved, I might be interested.)

Because it's entertaining? Like a reading a book or watching a movie?

I think you're reading way too much into the attraction video games have to men....

Don't make it bigger than it is...you can play videogames for 2 hours because today is snowing and you planned to do something outside (that you can't do), and you will anyhow never become (or wish to become) a professional hockey player - say if I choose to play NHL.

Well, how long is a "clip"? It seems pretty vague.

On the other hand, how much time is spent looking at still imagery that is pornographic, or at least somehow erotic?
    Go to sleep, iguana.
