    point being, if you are powerful enough to barcode everyone at birth...and to make that system actually work...then you are obviously powerful enough to not need to barcode people in the first place...

    Yes, that's the one valid truth about this topic. Not that it must work, as Hitler proved during his reign. But that fundamental parts of what makes us humans should be removed.

    They are advantageous only up to the point that either a corrupt government gets into power, the identifiers fail, or someone learns how to modify them. I give it at most a week after launch before one or all of these things happen. At that point ethnic or political groups can be more effectively targeted, people will be falsely imprisoned due to 'infallible' evidence, and criminals will make a killing in a brand new black market.
