For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

Is there a question to the OP? Or are you simply trying to make us aware?

Anyway, I find it acceptable that a transgender person is allowed to compete. But what is annoying is that she has gone through SURGERY. If the surgery was done only to remove what is unnecessary it is acceptable. But it doesn't stop there does it? One could do enhancements on their looks as much as they like in surgeries. And I have a good feeling that she has done exactly that. This is extremely unfair. Shouldn't the winners of such a competition be chosen from their natural looks?

It has come to a stage where the one who could afford the best surgery wins!!!! Urgh!

Yay, go gay and lesbian alliance against defamation! Woot. I like it when there is actually "good" news.

EDIT: Although, i'm not the biggest fan of these contests... they objectify women.ops.

I think it's cool but couldn't care less about pageants but if I did I imagine I'd agree that any strictly cosmetic facial enhancents or boob jobs removing ribs or adding cheekbones or whatever shouldn't really be allowed.

But really beauty pageants?? Is there anything quite as tacky?
There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.

I was just curious what the reaction would be and particularly what the ladyfolk would think. Also, I was hoping someone would post something controversial and it would grow from there. Question! The swimsuit competition: would you mind seeing a competitor's junk on your tv screen? Also, how would you feel as a woman if you lost the pageant to a transgendered woman? Would you feel as though your femininity was lacking?

If I came away with a problem like that - feeling like I was lacking something because of who won - then I brought that problem in with me to begin with. She didn't confer it on me.

People could say it after the fact and then perhaps make that woman doubt herself *shrug*

I don't really want to talk about hypotheticals though. Also, do you think the judges may be biased against her?
