    my preferred government would be
    - VERY minimal taxes (like, less than 10% of total income going toward all taxes combined)
    - a 100% voluntary military force, for national defense (not empire building and world policing)
    - local police forces, a small state police force and a small force of federal police for catching more dangerous criminals (people like Ted Bundy, or something like that)
    - privatization of all land except for government buildings
    - a supreme court to preserve the constitution and local/state courts.
    - NO national legislature, only state and local legislatures.
    - a committee that reviewed laws and decided whether or not the law should expire (America needs this badly)

    Nice

Mine would look something akin to this:

-Pro-everything under the sun. This includes the legalization (distribution and use) of safe drugs, decriminalization of hard drugs (give em rehab instead), prostitution, guns, and any other immoral chaotic activities that make life more fun.
-Close off border and temporarily end all or most immigration until we can fix the economy (however approve amnesty for the 11million illegal here, it'll cost less than mass deportation).
-Tax the poor and middle class less. Or better yet, not at all!
-Tax the poor more, although if taxing them less actually creates more jobs then tax them less.
-End pesky taxes that force people to lode huge sums of money when they inherent prizes or gifts (it hurts the poor as much as it does the rich).
-Socialize health care and other welfare programs, but not too many.

what if I told you healthcare would be much less expensive if you privatized it (key word: privatized; not corporatized)

If you mean affordable on a minimum wage salary, then I'm listening; explain.

it's very simple, market forces. granted, high end detoxification, cosmetic care and such would probably still be kind of expensive, but other than that, a healthcare system in which companies could compete fairly against each other would lower prices drastically (have you ever gone to your local health market and taken a look at some of the herbal medicines/remedies? they are extremely inexpensive compared to brand name pharmaceuticals)
as for invasive surgeries, that's a different issue. I still think a free marketplace could drastically lower the cost, but I'm not sure by how much

Hmmmmm thats certainly intriuging. I should probably look into the economics of free market health care and learn more about it.

government has no incentive to be efficient or effective, therefore the costs will inevitably be much higher (economics 101, if you give people incentive to work hard and be effective, they will do so; if you don't, they will be lazy and produce sub par results)

    Good point.

Although it would certainly be nice if certain businesses starting hiring people for full time and paying health benefits (like big name Corporations). We could still have efficient free-market health care with the aid of business insurance so that people won't get crippled with $10,000 debts when they break a leg or have a stroke.

to fix this, I would propose
    - create more pro-business policies
    - leading to creation of more businesses
    - leading to businesses competing for employees
    - leading to higher wages and more job benefits

That seems like it would work. Hell if the end result is more benefit for me and the greater good then I'm all for such policies like this.
