Lightbulb Do you know about KONY 2012? You should.

Please watch at least the first couple of minutes of KONY 2012, a documentary about a timely human rights movement to save African kids under Kony's regime. Of perhaps even greater import, these documentary creators are taking this opportunity to establish precedence about the power of the people in a social media age in an American election year. That's called fantastic kairos, people. Let's keep the inertia rolling.

    It's intelligently and passionately crafted.

I ironically saw this video the first time immediately after watching Machine Gun Preacher.

I can't say that I'm really surprised that we haven't done much yet, but I think it becomes hard to justify the "get rid of the evil dictator" excuse for use of military force whenever it is only used in circumstances where our economic and defense interests are involved.

    Either way, good idea.

Do I have to feel bad when I find the way this is organized more interesting than its goal? I already spread the word, of course.

Interesting. My kiddo brought this to my attention just an hour ago .. Word is getting out

The video is far too long, and riddled with unnecessary information/detail. The average online viewer has the attention span of 3-4 minutes before they get bored or lose interest. Making the video this long was not the best strategy.
I spread the word and watched the video yesterday, although, like I said, it was filled with unnecessary crap that could've been cut out.

They also should've gotten a different speaker. I felt like I was listening to a kindergarten teacher.

Gavin is so cute, though, so emotionally persuasive... Almost like a senza smiley.

Not at all, I found myself wanting to fast-forward, because I could not stand the puppy dog tone he kept using. He's also a tad valley-girl-ish, in the way he speaks, which didn't help with the tone. It just didn't jive with the video; sounded amateur.

I was sent to the website, which could not have been more uninformative, and I'll be damned if I'm going to sit through a 30 minute Sarah Machlauchchchchchalan guilt porn video with kids.

While this particular practice is terrible, I'm excitedly waiting for everyone to inevitably calm down, actually look in to Invisible Children as a charity, and come to the realization all their donations just went to an organisation that supports military incursion and the UPDF, who outnumber Kony's LRA about 10:1, have been accused of their own rape/pillage/plunder atrocities, and all those fun things.

And naturally, showing that the US never learns, we trained the UPDF and then they promptly invaded the Congo to take all their shiny things. GG.

So, yeah. Obviously Kony is a psycho maniac that should be stopped. But, "Send a maniac to catch one" only worked in Demolition Man.

Just watched it, and came to post it but discovered the thread exists already. Good cause, with a creative tactic. Hope it goes well.

    Fuck Kony.
