Unwise. There will always be some way to trick the drone into using it's ethical "brain" to cease-fire.

Aren't you being a little unfair? All we have to do is copy the human mind, because we know that humans always behave ethically.

So perhaps we should start listening to our first christian humanist, Erasmus, who told us that all war is evil. And perhaps we should start disbanding our standing armies.

And drones are particularly hated by tribal people because they kill civilians from the comfort of armchairs in Virginia.
A satellite link to the drone would be required in that case. The drone Command Center will be located in the general vicinity of the drone's flight pattern.

However, I don't mind the idea of controlling an assassin drone from the comfort of my own armchair, if I had an armchair. If I had been young enough to volunteer after 9/11 maybe I would be doing something like working on drones.

I don't see the issue since the drones are being directed through remote cameras located on them. So whoever is directing the drone can see the target.

    What a drone pilot sees.

The Bottom Line is that the vast majority of the American people care only about American deaths. Drones prevent this. An American military personal is far more emotional than a drone crashing.

Also as expensive as these Drones are they are actually cheaper to maintain then actual piloted aircraft. Switching to a remote controlled aircraft to fight a technological disabled enemy was a no brainer for the US. Hell the Israelis are taking things a step further and are creating remote control tanks.

Long term - Pilots are like film, still looks better but digital outperforms in every other aspect.

I guess my sarcasm was too subtle.

I didn't respond to the statement you made about the human mind always being ethical. However, consider the Three Laws of Robotics...

Yeah, I don't believe it is possible to guarantee those laws will never be broken.

And that wasn't Asimov's point, eventually? Thus the Zeroth Law came about, "A robot may not harm a human being, unless he finds a way to prove that ultimately the harm done would benefit humanity in general."
