Same here. I think I'm too liberal for this country.

I thought people would be interested in seeing where the presidential candidates stood.

This is laughable. Why is it Republicans rail against Obama again? Why do they call him a socialist?

I am so baffled by American politics; it seems that perception matters more than reality.

    I got:
    1. Barack Obama

    2. Mitt Romney

    3. Rick Perry

Hrmm, not surprised given how limited the options were.

I wouldn't trust that, too much. I've found the political compass estimates a huge number of real political figures to be in the upper-right quadrant, and a huge number of test takers to be in the lower-left. It's weird.

This site is pitching themselves as a more accurate, unbiased alternative to politicalcompass: http://politics.beasts.org/

I know nothing of them. Does anyone else?

(Tested there out of curiosity, my position was significantly more north than my PoliticalCompass position, but their axes are labeled differently.)

That is because whoever wrote the site is British, one can tell by the way they write, and probably an old school style Labour Party supporter at that.

I see. So Obama is a socialist.

I test in the lower left and did think it a little odd how far Right everyone seemed to sit, especially with the NZ political chart. NZ is reknown for being left leaning (in the last 20-30 anyway).

    Obama is hardly a socialist.

I also test in the lower left, which seemed to make sense to me, but when I ended up looking at where everyone else (test takers and speculated politicians) was placed, I became very skeptical.
