Latest Ipsol in SC shows Romney with a 21-point-lead over Santorum/Paul. Even if that's skewed, 21 points is a helluvalot -- even losing just by a point or two is still a victory for Romney there considering the nature of the state. I'm guessing also that Gingrich's attack ads have kind of backfired on him (and he's fourth in the poll, at 12%.)

That poll is a major outlier.

The RCP average of major polls currently has the following results in SC:

    RCP Average 1/11 - 1/13
    Romney 26.7
    Gingrich 22.0
    Santorum 14.7
    Paul 14.7
    Perry 5.7
    Huntsman 5.7

Like I said, even if it's way off, even the results you mention are kind of a bust for everyone but Romney, who should be getting his ass kicked in hyper-conservative SC.

Well, it is generally the coastal towns of SC that could potentially work in favor of Romney.

The further you get towards the western portion, the more Gingrich it gets. In some ways, I think there are too many "Conservatives" or "Religious" candidates to split the votes, especially when you think of Gingrich and Santorum (could be dividing the more religious votes that make up the state.) So in a way, if one of them don't drop, it is making it that much easier for Romney to advance.

I don't like any of the GOP nominees. All of them give me that slimy toad feeling.

Romney will say anything to get votes.

Santorum is a bigot, did you see his face when Ron Paul during the debate went on that rant about us being too involved in other countries? Or any other debate when someone else is contradicting him. Screams "I don't appreciate or approve of other people's opinions." Then the whole ordeal about what he said about food stamps, welfare and redistributing wealth and "black people".

Ron Paul is the only sensible person that sticks to his guns and not to just what will get him votes. Another example of the two party system being broken. If anyone could vote for the primaries then his chances of winning would be significantly more. His beliefs and the two party system is what will do him in. Then if he runs for president as an independent after not getting the GOP nominee it will be a lot of damage to the republican party and Obama will win again...which arguably...considering the GOP candidates...wouldn't be a bad thing if Obama won again.
