Default How do you feel about the rich?

I know that a lot of people have can be freaked out by people who're obviously on the poverty line, jim bob the trawler park loon or the urban hoody chav are scary guys for many, even if they're ashamed of it because its not exactly PC.

Although how do you feel about the rich? I got to say that they actually freak me out just as much, I really do imagine that they sail out into international waters to do shit that would make Dracula of myth and legend cringe and cower (and I dont mean say mass and take communion). I suspect that they are also fixing to steal organs, literally, wreck economies and play games with everyones future like Goldfinger or something. Hell for all I know Ick's theory about seven foot blood drinking lizards is a less scary alternative to what the rich are really like.

I've got to say that I'd have to fight down the prejudice or manage being perturbed if I was in the company of anyone who I'd guess was the real McCoy in terms of riches.

So what way do you feel? Or dont you feel anything?

One of my biggest criteria with regard to my feelings toward people is how they treat me/how they have behave toward me.
I'm not really concerned about how much money they have.

I have no fundamental strife against the rich, they're people of means & power and if they use it for good, that's great. Would love to be one of them some day, but I won't be sad if I never make it (it's not my highest priority in life anyway). Cheating and manipulating to obtain their fortunes is something I hate though, and I understand that many rich & powerful people got there using questionable ethics and that angers me.

Money is power, plain and simple; when one has but a massive sum of money at their disposal, one also has the means to do many things. Those with such power can fro example, give to those in need, or reinvest in the infrastructure of society; alternatively, they can ruin the lives of thousands and bring death to many.

Overall I'm somewhat on the fence concerning my feelings towards the rich, on both moral and practical perspectives. Yes, with that level of power and lifestyle that comes with it, jealousy and fear can be expected, but at the same time I feel as though such emotions would betray but a weak man who is nothing more than a selfish coward; such a man would be far worse than any wealthy person. And of course, there's the matter concerning just how much money they have and whether they deserve it; any good society shouldn't easily allow great sums of money to pool into one source without due consideration as to whether that source can be trustworthy for the sake of society. Thus the idea of the few having possession of the many is risky if they choose actions solely in their own benefit. Now of course a country could institute socialism or communism, but in all honesty such forms of government will not prevent the powerful from seeking power, and massive societies of people can hardly live by such means of sharing, simply from a logistics standpoint.

Anyone who appears to be more of a card board cut out stereotype than an individual scares me to be honest, its most common and most obvious in people of really low economic and social status here, mainly because of a culture of "hardness", ie mean, menacing, violent, in some ways its scary but its closer to my own origins than rich people so I cant really say I feel exactly the same way.

In so far as I feel the ruling interests and classes set the cultural tone of the country I think that everyone fears poor people.

It depends on how they act. Some of my friends have been/are quite rich, and I find them as whole and easy to get along with as everyone else. I like talking to them about their lives as rich people, too. They have just as many problems as everyone else. However, I can't stand people who are only about money- and don't have a problem treating them as I would treat anyone else that I can't stand. Money destroys some people, I have no time for them. My town is full of millionaires, so they are hard to avoid.

I came from a very low income situation, and many poor people drive me nuts for money related reasons, too. At either extreme, there can be limited, closed thinking.

The only stereotypes are the ones certain individuals are too ignorant or arrogant to look past.
The ruling class does not decide what our interests and fears are. I don't fear poor people, I don't know anyone who fears the poor except the rich.
