I dont think that the Republican party want to put their best foot forward in the next election contest because they dont think they can beat Obama, even with the apathy and flagging support factors, so I'm betting that Ron Paul will emerge again at another time when victory is more likely.

I'm also predicting that all the whack expectations of Ron Paul will turn to disappointment the same way that Obama's support has been disappointed. Although even if impoverished, unemployed, destitute and begging for work his support are still going to want to give the privileged greater and greater breaks rather than realise what is really going on.

I think the opposite is true. They're too confident; they speak faster than they think.

If he lives that long, we'll have to find more hippies.

(I wish he could deliver a message without sounding so loopy.)

Why don't the privileged deserve breaks? What is going on?

Is this along the lines of what you're thinking?

Romney, Gingrich, Obama, Santorum...they're all the same. They only differ on minor issues like abortion and gay marriage (sorry people, but those ARE minor issues compared to foreign and economic policy). If Paul doesn't win the Republican nomination, it does not matter who wins the general election.

He wouldn't touch Social Security, at least not for people who are already depending on the system. He believes the country has a moral obligation to follow through on its commitments to people who are already dependent on Social Security.

Much of Ron Paul's budget cuts would come from reduced defense spending. I don't think it's really necessary to spend more money on defense than the rest of the world combined. But the people dependent on that spending spend billions lobbying and creating propaganda to keep the money flowing.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."
