Tragedy and the Pursuit of Happiness

The tragedy for the USA is that it wants power and love. And the two are not compatible.

And also tragically, abusers also want power and love, and they try to get love through power. And so the emblematic phrase of the USA is, "kick ass".

But it's worse, the Ancient Greeks understood tragedy, but the USA only understands the pursuit of happiness.

And underneath the phoney pursuit of happiness lies authentic tragedy.

If only we listened to the founders who paved the way for our pursuit of happiness.

"Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and prayers be. But she goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all… She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication… [The] fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force… She might become the dictatress of the world. She would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit…" -John Adams

    Your metaphor is obtuse.
There are several instances where power and love are indeed compatible.

    No, Victor.
There are many "abusers" out there who don't give a sman about love, they simply prefer to abuse.
So, it seems in your opinion that the United States is an "abuser" nation.
Is Australia a nation of virtue and goodness?
Ask the Aborigines what they think.
Finally, other than the United States, how many other nations in modern history have risked their own well being people of other lands?
    Yeah, that's what I thought.
Your drunken metaphors don't hold water yet again.

What's the emblematic phrase of China?
What's the emblematic phrase of Russia?
What do you think the world would be like if either China or Russia were top dog as the U.S.A. has been for the last century?
I'll tell you what it would be like in part.
You'd be shackled and gagged and unable to participate in any dialogue anywhere.
You throw cheap shots at the greatest democracy on the planet and pretend that the rising despotic powers of the world are so much better than America.
Your thoughts and attitudes are foolish and ignorant.

What do China and Russia understand, Victor?
And, if you are going to go off and romanticize the Ancient Greeks, don't forget they destroyed their own society due to internecine conflict.
So, their pursuit of tragedy obviously wasn't such a great idea.

No, underneath the phoney pursuit of blabbering political dialogue laced with delusions and peppered with personal biases, your statements once again sound like a rant from the local village idiot.

The system depends on debts, and per definition the debts can never be fully paid back by everyone without taking on new credits because of the interest mechanism. If all money is created by credits, and credits have to be paid back with extra interest, then there will be always more debts than money. Even if all countries would work as hard as possible and the same, they eventually would all have huge debts to the banks. In reality some states just go bankrupt earlier than others, and some have political power to get away with it for longer and some not.
