^Gaddafi gave up his WMDs in order to make peace with the US. 8 years later we fuck up his shit with Tomahawk missiles. This sends a very bad message to other military dictators, "Trust the US, get stabbed in the back" and pretty much guaranties that we will never have another peaceful disarmament like we did with Libya. Future Iran negotiations dont look good.*
EDIT: Of course thats assuming we actually want peace with Iran and arent just looking for an excuse to fuck their shit up.
Can you believe that this photo was taken just 2 years ago?
I totally can believe it, I also can believe that the precusor to this, the diplomatic contact with the british including the repatriation of the Lockeby bomber was all done with foreknowledge of what the end game in Libya was to be.
Whatever the fallout for the US is going to be, ie other dictators not being so easily taken in, this raises a boat load of questions, in the US and the UK all this spanned changes in political administrations so whatever orchestration and actions were taking place must have been by the "deep state". Its almost like after 9/11 someone drew up a list and decided to "sort out all that shit which started in the sixties and seventies" or tie up all the loose ends in the way of proxy wars or spy games.
Hell, it even makes me wonder about whether or not the peace process in NI is going to turn out to be some sort of elaborate ruse. Also, despite all the goading from the Bush administration about "old europe" during the immediate aftermath of 9/11 and the seeming military adventures that were being embarked upon then who was it that was appearing in footage with Cameron in Libya but the French president and other representatives of the same "old europe" squad Bush had berated.
There's serious destruction being wrought on the third world, specific to Libya its going to bedlam now I reckon and it'll probably never act as any kind of prime mover in Africa like Gaddafi envisaged, no common agricultural policies or the like to dispell the continents dependency upon foreign aid, but I suspect its the old powers playing geo-politics.
