Americans hate us because they killed massive numbers of their own people, while we did exactly the same as Americans but without killing any of our own people.

As a furphy the American haters bring up Australian aborigines, but they do so without having read their own Jared Diamond's book, "Guns, Germs and Steel"; or without having read our very own Keith Windschuttle's three volumes, "The Fabrication of Aboriginal History"; or without having read the comparative history of the Americas and Australia by Claudio Veliz.

But the sadest thing is the self hating Australians who are under the influence of the low, ignorant, popular culture of America.

And as I write the Americans are preparing to use Australia once again to attack our neighbours to our north.

China has sovereignity over the low islands in the South China sea, but they are chock-a-block full of oil and gas. So the Americans have already built stealth tri-marans loaded with leathal weapons and the latest high tech electronics, to challenge the sovereignity of China.

And Australia is to be the base for America's next war in the South China Sea. And we will have the American military on our streets, none of whom can be brought before our Criminal Courts if they commit crimes against Australians. Just as the American military can't be brought before the International Court of Justice for war crimes.

The last time the American miliary were on our streets our artists painted them and some of these paintings hang in our National Gallery, and they show the ugly American, bordering on evil, on our streets.
Really? In the entire colonial history of the British Empire, the Australian aborigines, unlike every other indigenous group under the thumb of European imperialism, were not mistreated at all? Australian settlers are just the exception to the rule, are they? Sorry, Vic, I think this might be just a bit naive to assume here.

Plus, I don't think most Americans think enough about Australia to actively hate it, not beyond the standard nationalistic tendencies that citizens of every country show, anyway. On top of that, the US isn't stupid enough to go to war against China based on simple desire for extra resources; not that they wouldn't win, but the cost to the nation would exceed any benefits that they would gain from such a venture. They might flex their muscles a bit as a show of force, but it would not come to open war.

Sometimes, I wonder if I live in a completely different country to you, dear Victor, because the Australia I live in is quite a different place. Yours is some sort of fairy land, where as mine is filled with the realities of human nature. (Australia isn't bad though.)

Americans are pure evil, Australians have never done anything bad and spent all their colonial time stroking the aboriginal people with fluffy kittens, and I'm implicitly an "American hater" (that is, a hater who is American...I think) due to my comments in the Amanda Knox thread, although I specifically mentioned that I'm Canadian and that we weren't too nice to our indigenous people either.

Victor reminds me of the members of this group, nominally a group who wants to foster better relations between the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. They used to have a message board. There I discovered these men (they were all men) were mostly British ex-pats or the sons of British ex-pats who moved to the other three countries, and were completely delusional about British history and the strength of the ties between the UK and her former colonies.

They were all monarchists and held 'romantic' views about the British Empire. There was a lot of gobbledygook about how Britain got rid of slavery, the British Empire was extremely progressive, blah blah blah. They honestly believed people in Australia, Canada and New Zealand still had a deep affinity for the UK as their "mother country", everyone loved the Queen, and little details like the variations of the Westminster parliamentary system developed in Australia, Canada and New Zealand (such as elected senators in Australia) were the result of American influence that would be 'corrected' when the four countries were 'reunified'.

They even talked about how Australia, New Zealand and the UK bond over sporting competitions; Canada was too influenced by the American hegemony and started playing brutish sports like ice hockey and basketball because of this American imperialism. That too would be 'rectified' upon 'reunification'.

All cultural variations between the UK and its 'daughters' were due to some combination of American influence and foreign interference.

I suspect that like those spurious monarchist anglophile nutbags Victor is an older man, perhaps in his 50s, whose ancestry is not far removed from the UK.

Hey, calling someone a sheep-fucker is a term of endearment, not hate.

Actually, no. That came out wrong. Sorry.

Technically we're not independent. We're still Britian's bitch. The GG could sack the PM if the Queen thought it appropriate.

Perhaps we have to kill the Queen to gain independence, Aliens style.
