They took over a vacant building, set fires, put up a barricade this morning, etc. The pictures tell it. And this is a LOT of people, not just a few.

For some of them, yes. There is usually a big group (several hundred, at least), that attend Oakland protests specifically for this reason. Some of them, anarchists, some just want to trash shit up for fun.

That's one reason why my opinions can be anti-protest. People of Oakland get tired of it.

What do you think the point of this is? We never specified "only the BAD Nazis" in WW2, and in no case of corruption has anyone ever bothered to play this semantic game of "only the corrupt ones." If something is corrupt it is corrupt and you fucking say it.

And don't you think it would be more effective to target corruption rather than entire banks, corporations, or the entire system of capitalism?

That was the original intent by those who started the protests, anyway.
Its easier to target corrupt organizations than it is to target some abstract platonic concept of corruption. Its also much more effective.

If banks are corrupt then they should be targeted. If corporations are corrupt then they should be targeted. The whole problem is corruption, if Wall Street wasnt corrupt it wouldnt be protested. There are idiots using this as a platform to attack capitalism, but how the hell do you expect them to reigned in? Should they just be kicked out of the protests? Should everyone have to add a super friendly "Oh but capitalism itself isnt the problem so please dont be offended." to the end of every sign and chant?

Stop making concessions to your opponents. This isnt a debate, the time for that ended long ago, this is a war. Not a war with guns and grenades but with soundbites and news reports. This is a meme-war, learn how to fight it.

Targeting specific people, organizations, or "corruption" is unproductive. Individuals, singular organizations, nor even "corruption" is capable of causing problems this big.

Problems of this scale are caused by bad policy, oftentimes policy that sounds very good but has very bad unintended consequences. Think about it: how else do you get a LOT of people to all do the same stupid things at the same time? (Hint: it helps if everyone is making money off of it.)

    Get ready for a mouthful.

Wall Street created Morgage backed securities filled with loans that they knew were going to fail(I can pull up some resources on that part if you want) and then sold them to clients who were unaware that they were sabotaged by picking the loans most likely to be defaulted on. They then short sold those securities as well as insuring against them so that ifwhen they failed they got a huge jackpot.

THEN, they hedged bets against the people insuring the securities so that when their stocks go to shit they get a massive payout. This leaves those companies insuring them unable to settle counterparty bullshit. Now comes the fun part: they threaten to force those companies to liquidate the insurance policies and consumer deposit accounts they hold to settle their counterparty obligations. This is enough to compel the government to come in an use taxpayer money to settle things.

Long story short we all got raped in the ass, hard, and people like Jaguar go around acting like it was our fault for dressing to slutty.

Its much easier to just say "Wall Street is corrupt."

Hmm. Where did all those failing loans come from, I wonder?
