    Unhappy Buying Sex

Women gained their emancipation for the first time in history in Australia and New Zealand in 1903.

And recently prostitution has been legalised in Australlia.

And the next step in the liberation of women is to make the buying of sex a criminal offence.

Sweden is leading the world in the liberation of women and have made the buying of sex a criminal offence.

What are you doing in your own country to make the buying of sex a criminal offence?

    Smile Women will be free

The liberation of women is a long struggle.

Men raped their female slaves until institutional slavery was abolished for the first time in history by the House of Commons in 1833.

And women gained the vote for the first time in history in Australia and New Zealand in 1903.

And in 1999 Sweden criminalised the buying of sex.

Naturally the patriarchy will fight to retain their privileges over women.

And some women, under the spell of the Stockholm Syndrome, will support their men.

But the tide of history is against them and women will be free.

I agree that we should free women by telling them what they can and cannot do with their lives.

We will do this by implementing these criminal laws.

I believe that we can make a difference.

^ Agreed. Why should a government dictate what a woman, or anyone for that matter, does with their body? I'm not even necessarily defending prostitution from an ethical standpoint, if such a thing exists, but plenty of women use their bodies for financial gain. Some do it in the form of marriage.

Women were allowed to vote in New Zealand in 1893. Their antipodean cousins should not be given more than their due credit for advancing the rights of women.

Actually legalizing prostitution is freeing women from the criminal abuses that occur in illegal low-grade prostitution like street walking, or even some escorting, which can be somewhat dangerous, depending.

The safest prostitution is to have "red light districts" and legal ...what my ESFP mother calls "houses of ill repute" with a wink and a giggle, especially when she jokingly suggests being the madam of her own....because there they receive health care, protection for all kinds of safety, and regulated pay.

Prostitution is not going to go away because you make it illegal, it's just going to become seedier and uglier and much less safe.

I agree. I especially like the idea of there being houses or centers where women are not on their own, but others are around for safety reasons.

    Consider:
    Person A has a resource B wants
    Person B has a resource A wants
Person A wants to make a deal
Person B wants to make a deal

Now comes institution C imposing Person A and B can't trade their resources. Even worse, they call it freedom.

Yeah, I think sex is a very important resource, and I will probably defend it to my death just like my mother.

Except she sends my sisters links on facebook that say things like "how to marry a rich man" and I'm just like MOM JESUS CHRIST CAN'T YOU SEPARATE BUSINESS FROM PERSONAL LIFE.

It's funny, my grandfather even said to me when he was very old and I was a grown woman, "Your mom is a shyster, you know this right? She's a shyster."

I still separate love from business. But even the fact that I'm capable of making that distinction, unlike some women, is probably a little strange.

My mother and I were both dancers, btw, not hookers, but still, I think the concept applies.
