    Default Same Sex Marriage

    Simple question.

I am for it. I don't see why not?

Made the poll private so that true heartfelt opinions could be monitored.

Yes this thread is about the Legal Concept of marriage, not the spiritual. But how is it possible to argue on such a discussion without dragging the spiritual in to it? Sigh!

I'm for gays getting it on but where's the 'Marriage is such a silly little human tradition that shouldn't even have laws applied to it in 2011' option.

Where the law is concerned, marriage is not a simple silly human tradition.

I don't have to elaborate on it I hope???

I haven't studied law too much. Just common law.

    Sure, marriage should be allowed.

There should be a Cant Be Given option, its not in the power of government to work miracles.

^ Why use miracles? The government could simply pass a law allowing same sex marriage or lift the ban on it. (I am nor sure whether it's not allowed or banned.)

One does no have to use miracles to get things done.

In the United States, there's confusion about the role of the Fed gov getting involved in matters determined by individual states.

And the political climate as such has not yet reached the point where having a majority of states or even a federal mandate to allow gay marriage is a real possibility. We have something like five states that have gone through a legal process to approve it, but many others who set up laws to impede it.

The culture drives the law, simply by replacing one generation of lawmakers with another, but things still won't change here for awhile.

So yeah... in the US, for it to happen tomorrow? Miracle.

why exactly do you not like about gay marriage? I won't try to convince otherwise, I'd just rather hear your reasoning. if it's gay culture in general, then to be honest, I can sympathize despite the fact that I am gay, but you should know that not ALL of use dress in hideous, grotesque clothing, talk like high school cheerleaders, rape each other and aspire to be Lady GaGa.

Is there anything new to add to the already existing discussions?
