If the government is for sale to the highest bidder why are libertarians so worried? Surely its a total vindication of their ideology and everything's going according to their plan?

Not if the Chinese ultimately become the highest bidder.

Exactly, and they are making it easier today than they did a year ago.

Cool paradox but I think its superficial, I tend to think that beneath it all most of the libertarians I meet would be fine with a "chinese democracy", or something even worse, if they were sure it'd result in tax cuts for the uber-rich.

Well my family, particularly on my mother's side, has been Republican since they were Wigs (New England Yankees). Dad was a Goldwater Republican and a CIA officer, my mother worked in an Army lab, and my brother and I are both veterans who came of age during the Carter administration.

At various points we have all slipped away from the GOP: me first, and then one by one... now there isn't anybody in my family who seriously considers voting Republican. My father went when the GOP ran Ollie North. To parapharse the partron saint of the tea party RR - they didn't leave the Republican party, the Republican party left them when they went batshit crazy.

Ron Paul might be the only one left of the old brand republican.

    Yeah, and also eating children.

No, hang on there ... this response doesn't make any sense.
A criticism that can be brought against everything ought not to be brought against anything.
