Eh, it's all relative. If the guy got beat, that's pretty straightforward and is fine (there's no implication I can see that the robber was violent), but this rape (viagra induced, removing any semblance of consentuality) and theoretically suffering starvation (if all she gave him was viagra as the story claims), not to mention probably a lot of public mockery and paying for his crime within the justice system voluntarily seems kind of fucked.

And as mentioned, female robber, male rapist, is that still funny? Why is that so different? Because women are weaker than men and can't sustain as much psychological duress or trauma? Isn't that type of thinking, that men can handle being raped but not women because they're so frail and fragile mentally, sort of sexist?

What if the woman had, instead of raping this robber, actively tortured him for days? Hot irons, spikes, etc. Maybe she goes Jeff Dahmer and drills into his skull or cuts off pieces of him. Same concept. One predator is one-upped by another. But the punishment and crime just don't match, and I'm guessing that too is not so funny. To me, while what happened probably wasn't quite that extreme, it was pretty harsh. Too harsh for the robber's illegal, but ultimately non-violent, actions.
Does he want a pillow for his head?

Yeah, but I still don't think you'd have found it so funny if the genders were swapped.

Actually, in this particular situation I would still have thought the girl was a dumbass for trying to burglarize a dude in a Russian hair salon. I would have still thought...well...you break into people's private property with intent to rob them...you can get shot in the head...I mean WTF.

You guys are acting like she kidnapped some innocent person.

I wonder what it's like to go through life without a profound sense of absurdity about people (including one's self).

Do you think Uncle Vanya is a really sad play?

Shot in the head would be easier to connect to self-defense. That's not quite what we're talking about here is it?

    No, it's really quite immaterial.

I'm not sure why there is argument here. People either find something funny or they don't. I will concede, however, that a certain degree of disconnectedness is required to find humor in such tragedies. I find certain serious diseases and immoral acts to be rather humorous if viewed at an emotional distance and in the right context, but a serious mental inspection of such things removes most if not all humor.
