I got a 30. Did everyone score well, or are some people holding out on us?

Ah, this is a good point.

I bet we're a little bit better than the general population. Seeing as we're a group interested in psychology and human behavior.

LOL, just wanted to say sorry for locking the thread! I didn't even realize I had done it until I logged in and Jennifer had messaged me. I was browsing the other day on my laptop and the keyboard and touch pad just conked out on me. I was spamming my keys trying to maneuver out of the page, guess my computer thought that meant "put a lock on it!" So it was not intentional or part of some greater conspiracy.

I already posted that I did poorly.

This thread kind of puts a new perspective on the member pictures thread...

There are lots of elitist groups, some open about it, some not.

This group has a more taboo form of elitism, so I think it receives some added flak for that, and they are very open and systematic about it. The groups are everywhere though, from cultures to jobs to groups of friends, and everyone in this thread is likely a member of many, whether they realise it or not.

The general reaction to it reminds me of the general reaction to Mensa, as someone compared earlier. Maybe because it's a group a lot of people would like to be able to join, whether they would actually join or not.

Most of those face reading tests are pseudo-science, and misused-science at best. The quantifying emotions part should give that away straight away.

Yeah. I get misread enough by people I interact with often.

It's about emotional intelligence and it's not pseudo-science. Especially since women are more inclined to be better at it, possibly due to caring for babies and young children and having to identify their needs.

Just because something is about EQ and not IQ doesn't make it pseudo-science.

Archite... Catbert already addressed that particular test. If they aren't backed by the scientific method, yet claiming to be science, that's pseudo-science. If people are claiming to be able to judge emotions based on those tests, either the tests themselves claim they know the emotions of those pictured, or someone else is claiming that. In the first case, pseudo-science, in the second case, misused-science.

EQ and IQ are unrelated to my point.

Smile tests, for example, where you have to answer whether a smile is genuine or not, are different. Much more quantifiable. The facial reading tests have uses too, like measuring how deviant someone is in regards to reading eye expressions. It's just not EQ, since measuring someone's emotions is messy stuff, yet you'd need it to make an accurate test.

    I got 23. It's actually better than I expected.

I also think that the guy with the smirk projects condescension in the photo. If we were cavemen, I would not eat meat with him.
