    2: A meltdown.

Unless you live in a state like Wisconsin (or any other state trying to completely annihilate union rights,) you still have union rights.

But that is assuming if the politician haven't already created a train wreck with his constituents and blame what has been in place for so many years.
actually, war is how the united states sustains it's power. don't get me wrong, I totally agree that the economy cannot be managed and that we should not have our military stretched all over the globe, but that is how we keep people on our good side. the united states is a fairly empirial, militaristic and authoritarian country and that is the sole source or our current, borrowed power. I think the best thing to do is to slowly move back in the direction of the constitution and reduce the size of government as much as possible.

There are a whole lot of currently untapped taxation.

I want to bind the ability to use the internet to money as little as possible.
So when taxation affects you, you're anti. But when it only affects others, your socialisitic nature peeks back out?

That's why I'm a big fan of a flat rate.

If your gonna raise the rates that's fine, but raise them for everyone. Saying you just want the rates raised on those other guys is like trying to have your cake and eat it too.

Right now, we just need to focus on eliminating ridiculous exemptions and tax breaks (like those for the corn and fuel industries).

This would go a long way to simplifying the tax code, mean fewer wasted man hours in lawyers figuring out people's taxes, and increase revenue.

we need to go through every law book in the united states, review all of them and ask "do we really need this?". I think we would cut out 60-70% of our giant legal caserole, save millions a year on paper work and billions a year on government legal reps if we did this. the problem is we would have to fire an obscene amount of lawyers and such, but I think that's a necessary fat trim to the federal budget. our country has become less productive because everyone goes to work for bureaucracy instead of starting businesses, working in businesses and producing actual value

Flat tax rate is probably the best, but it has to go first with dramatic government cuts, or taxes will be way too high...and bring out an underground economy.

If there is an email tax, I will find an alternative means of communication.

So basically, we should go Libertarian? That might keep the government from ever trying something as bad as e-mail tax.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater elf.

Yes much legislation that's gone through over the last 50 years or so would benefit from undergoing a thorough cost benefit analysis, but saying we could cut 60 to 70 % is kind of like saying you you benefit from losing both your legs.

Yea your heart my be taxed less, but your stuck being wheels from the Burger King Kids Club.

That is unless someone somewhere knows how to fashion legislative robot legs.

Theres a difference though, because you find out the baby is a virus infected zombie ready to maim you with it's single tooth, and the infection spreads...slowly but certainly =]

And this is why I call myself a moderate libertarian.
