    But they weren't good analogies.

No medical org will *recommend* it, as it doesn't have any medical use. But piercing ears has risks - infections can get pretty gnarly, but there's not much controversy. But I think the idea of it being genitalia sketches people out.

The unfortunate thing about analogies is that they are inherently cooperative rather than competitive. The other person has to be working with you to understand the point.

No, if I see that they're bad analogies then they just don't hold water.

I'm not even pro-circumcision. I told you guys I'm kind of on the fence about it, though I have my personal preferences as a straight female for my sexual partners, when it comes down to it I don't have strong feelings about people circumsizing their babies, even if it was my own child.

I just think they're bad analogies. Crazy exaggerations, even. Non-sensical.

Piercing babies' ears is pretty controversial... or it was on all the parenting message boards I used to frequent when my kids were small.

You might recall a recent exchange about deviance where a point about child rape was made to show that deviance itself is not the reason you are against something. Well these arguments were kind of like that.

But it's not the same, if anything, it's an argument against your side.

Like, child rape is "real" deviance. Crushing people's feet is "real" child abuse.

Oh, so you want to make it personal again? Make up your mind.

Anyhow, I don't even know what to do with that statement. It's not at all accurate and I'm not sure how you even came up with it, and it wouldn't be relevant besides.
    You said it yourself.

You had no problem with your situation until you found out you were circumcised.

If there was no problem before why is there one now?

Or is it just all in your head.

I'm going to be banned from San Francisco? I've never even been there yet.
