I was reading about comparisons between key political thinkers, and ideologies, and the story of Don Quixote lately, while the author stated that they considered some ideologies to be more Quixote than others (ironically the extremes of free market capitalism and central plan economies both) they generally thought that in the post-modern context (which I felt was a little vague) all ideologies were Quixote in character.

What do you think? Are all ideologies so much "tilting at windmills"? What do you think of the novel itself and is it really cultural or political commentary?

I've got to say that I feel some affinity with the character in the novel, although I never really thought of it as that political before.
