Default Would you install cameras in your car?

Would you install live streaming rear and forward recording web cams in your car if it were mandated by your insurance provider or could reduce your insurance expenses?

Would your decision be swayed by knowledge that the authorities or anyone else for that matter could access or use the footage collected by the camera?

Well I hadnt thought the cameras would record the drivers but I suppose if it were rigged up that way then insurance companies could have information on the presentation of drivers while driving, reaction times or things like that to correlate with cameras recording other motorists and incidents.

Ya, it's a good thing. There is a project team working in Germany for some years now on government basis with a huge research institute on the topic to have reactive cameras in cars that can interact with the environment. The goal is to detect pedestrians or animals crossing the street. The end goal is to maybe automatize cars so much that they drive automatically sensing their environment.

Research regarding this topic is called "Adaptive Fahrassistenzsysteme" and here's a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance...stance_systems

Ya, when they try to make that true it will equally fail like back then when they tried to set the 75 mph maximum speed limit in place

    Are you kidding?

I loved commuting much more than driving, I was able to read, listen to music or audiobooks and properly give them my attention, or even sleep if I set an alarm for my ETA or if I was travelling on a train were the stops would be announced. It made travel really enjoyable rather than a chore.

It would also probably eliminate the majority of accidents which are down to driver error, either being negligent or having exaggerated confidence in their competence.

I would do it to lower my insurance, but only if it was by a considerable amount or if it was required. I wouldn't be too happy about the slight loss of privacy, but I guess we don't have too much to start with anyway.

What about the possibility of being used as a surveillance drone? If it can be used by the government you're car has become a virtual expense free mobile surveillance camera.
