Smile Autoritarianism, Abuse and the Internet

Authoritarian institutions are being exposed on the internet.

We see this with Tunisia and Egypt and the effect is being felt by other authoritarian institutions as far afield as Malaysia.

In Australia the Royal Military College, Duntroon has been exposed on the internet as abusing their students and we are calling for an independent judicial inquiry.

A while ago there was an inquiry, but it was run by the military themselves, and had no effect on the culture of abuse.

But the internet is blowing the lid off authoritarian and abusive institutions, from Tunisia to the Royal Military College, Duntroon which trains all of Australia's Defence Force officers.

It's true, we are moving from the authoritarian mode of child rearing to the helping mode of child rearing. So it is no surprise that as our child rearing practices change, we seek to change our authoritarian institutions. We seek to change our authoritarian institutions to helping institutions.

You are correct, the internet has provided the common people with a free voice to reveal the injustices of the authoritarian evils in the world. That's why it worries me when I hear about the government (our government) wanting to take control of the interent; all it'll be is a free mediaum of information being enslaved and controlled, rendering the ability to use the internet to it's fullest advantage mute.

    Internet freedom against the machine!

    Information is power.

We have too much power these days in comparison to most of history, and those who seek power and hold power are obviously going to be threatened by this shift in power.

I am sure they are seeking ways to take this power back.

If this internet becomes unfree, there will be another one, because it is not a thing but a method. The technology to create it anew is already available; more technology will be available in the future: there is no way to keep us in the dark, for we already know how to light a fire.

Yes, we are now having a wide ranging civilian review of military culture in Oz. And at the same time women are invited to fill combat roles.

This is in part due to feminism and part due to the social media.

This is very true. People have proved thier resourcefullness and ability to adapt effectively, and technology has made that key to knowledge and justice possible.

The Internet is a beautiful thing, as long as you can disconnect from it whenever you want to.
