Our debate about the culture of the Royal Military College is proceeding apace.

Today the culture was described as toxic in the "Australian" newspaper by a leading academic, and graduate of the Royal Military College.

To me the defenders of the College seem to miss the point of the debate in that they focus on the details rather than the toxic nature of total institutions.

This is a debate that has been going on for a long time, sharpened at the present moment by having the Australian Labor Party in office.

But in my mind it is the struggle between authoritanrian institutions and helping institutions.

A while ago there was an inquiry, but it was run by the military themselves, and had no effect on the culture of abuse.

But the internet is blowing the lid off authoritarian and abusive institutions, from Tunisia to the Royal Military College, Duntroon which trains all of Australia's Defence Force officers.
    Exactly.
