Honestly, I don't think we've even started moving in the direction of "out of the woods."

of course not and the wolf is getting closer to eat us, but we don't move because we're five year olds wetting our pants and crying and hoping someone will rescue us. But we've fucked up too much for anyone to do that, we will either die or not.
    In no likes experiment.

    that is all

i dunno what else to say so

It's easy to move out of the woods. All you need to do is raise certain taxes by a few percentage points at most (will happen sooner or later). I might post on this later, if there is enough demand for discussion.

Well, it's easy to be creative when no one demands in any way that one remains grounded in reality

    Also, all that money helps

At present we're borrowing 40 cents of every dollar we spend going forward, WITHOUT paying anything toward actually reducing the debt mountain we've built up in the past. If you want me to believe that an adjustment of "...certain taxes by a few percentage points..." is going to really address this issue, you're going to have to show me your analysis.

I think we stepped into the woods the very first year we carried over a federal deficit into the following year. That would be, what, 1946?
