Default Canadian Conservative Government Defeated in House of Commons

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/...ol-defeat.html

It is the first time in our history that the government has been given a vote of no confidence for contempt of parliament. I'll let someone who knows more about law and politics explain what that means. But basically, Parliament will be dissolved and there will be another election.

    What do you think?

I'm not politically savvy, but I have a feeling this will backfire for the Liberal party. I don't think I want Ignatieff as PM personally. Whenever I've gone to the House of Commons, I've always got the impression the Liberal party lacked good leadership. They just seem to be in a state of chaos. I'm from a very Liberal family, and I grew up with parents that loved Chretien and now despise Harper, but I still don't see the Liberal party as strong right now.

So far, it seems that a new election will have much the same results as the last one.

I'm not really celebrating, just answering very much in the affirmative. I dont know much about Canadian politics but a right wing government with contempt of parliament getting re-elected with a popular, possibly radical, mandate? Didnt that happen in Europe once?

That is because the people don't hold the Government in contempt of Parliament, the opposition does.
That is why they will be voted back into power and this time with a majority.

The liberals are making a huge mistake I feel.

I do not vote conservative, but I will this time just to make a point.

I think the campaigns are going to be a complete circus and it will be wonderful entertainment. But when isn't it?

I'm not sure that even the threat of violence would result in me voting conservative.

Well I not only consider king harper in contempt of parliament but in contempt of Canada. One thing Canadians seem to have forgotten about the present Federal "conservative" party is that is basically the Reform party with a few extreme PCs thrown in for fun.

If Harper gets in with a majority he will divide Canada, he has been trying to make Ontario leave for years now.
He is very lucky how short Canadian memories are.

funny how he has taken credit for all the work Paul Martin did to protect our banks.

when he got in the 1st time his biggest campaign topic was the transparency in government he would bring, he has really gone the opposite direction. I guess that makes him a good politician, smile and lie....................

I would more likely vote for the green party than the reformed Reform, but I don't want to waste my vote and cause a dictatorial majority so it looks like Liberals.

I have voted every single chance I have been given. should be an interesting spring EH?
