The government also supplies infant formula to low-income women through the WIC program. They will supply breast-feeding women with extra food as well, but it's usually not great stuff. WIC has programs to support breast-feeding, as well, but last I knew, they did not get a lot of funding for that. I suspect the ag lobby has something to do with it. There really isn't much money to be made from breast-feeding.

Also, hopefully it's better now, but when I was nursing my babies the doctors didn't know crap about it. They were still using the growth charts for bottle fed babies exclusively even though breastfed babies gain weight at different rates than bottle fed babies do.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Not based on the data I've seen - around 60% for women with high school or less, a little over 80% for college graduates.

I am neither defending Wolf, nor am I defending you. I would simply like to point out that infanticide has been documented among members of primate social groups. Infanticide in chimpanzee communities has been captured many times on video tape. Usually, one male will kill the offspring of another male in order to try and assert genetic dominance.

It would surprise me if breastfeeding that late in life doesn't have some kind of effect on sexuality.

What imbeciles. Are there cows in mushed peas now? Is breastfeeding exploiting animals? Now after all the troubles of labor, their child is dead. I think that is enough punishment for them. Losers.

I have been hanging out with my ISTJ friend all day long. I think that may explain my last post.

I think a "normal" child will wean by 3 or 4 if allowed to self-wean, so a child who would nurse until 8 or 9 is likely not going to have a normal psyche to begin with.
