the french overreact as usual, nothing new in that. Sarkozy is in trouble, so he uses everything to expose a sense of statemanship.

Very typical of Japan, quite touching and impressive. I haven't heard anything about looting, not that there will be no incidents, but probably minimal compared to many other countries at such times.

It is a bit heartbreaking to see people who have just lost family, friends, homes etc but when interviewed for the news they are doing their usual Japanese best to be polite and collected.

Fom a financial point of view, not adding in the casualties and victims of the disaster itself, Japans procentual national debt is really high (possibly the highest in the world after this disaster), to think Japan has enough money to deal with this is a misconception. And it even goes further than that, this disaster is a good thing for the western economy. So we get better because of it, while they get worse.

So not giving a penny to Japan for the sole reason that they have enough money to deal with it themselves is childish at best.

Still, it's your money so you can do with it as you please, you cherish those few pennies you get over the victims of this disaster. .

Amazing read... It choked this INTJ up. It's also very much in the vein of what I've been reading in Japanese on Twitter these days.

Scroll over each pic for the before and after. The after basketball court with SOS was particularly heart-wrenching to me.

You got that right. It's fine as long as they don't get in a position of power though.
