Also keep in mind the difference in income equality. The higher the GINI is, the larger the number of people that get to enjoy less of the benefits of the country's wealth.

Only if you look at it in a really grossly simplified way...

Also note that people in Qatar are apparently far richer than Americans. Qatar is virtually a micro nation, however. and as a country gets small enough the GDP PC goes all out of whack. It's not hard for a very small place with some decent resources under it to amass a large GDP PC. It says virtually nothing about the virtue of the political or economic system there.

What are you talking about, red, you said you don't live in France?

I guess you don't appreciate the free nanny service if you don't have kids, I guess I can see that.

Maybe. All that free college is good though.

And we don't have the link to verify it. I trust giggly way more on that front.

It's true, I recall. I go to the CIA's factbook all the time and those figures are close to what I remember.

The stats aren't wrong, they are just being interpreted almost as poorly as possible.

Be nice to your homeland, redS. Perhaps what they mean is in terms of military. Which is quite important.

PPP (purchasing power parity) is purchasing power after direct tax.

That's good to know. I have consistently noticed that pattern also. Besides, if it were the money after taxes, one would have to consider the progressive tax rate unless we talking about the avg compared to the other countries to make a fair assessment (or at least I think so).
