Humans caused it, somehow. People will work out the rationalization later.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

I wondered why there wasn't a thread on this. I've been watching it on the news and it just seems to get worse every day. I have friends in Brisbane (who are on high ground thankfully) so I was a bit worried for them.

I heard the flooding is so huge that there's one 'lake' the size of France and Germany combined

There's not a lot of Aussies here who are located in QLD that I know of Ky. Bushranger is the only one who stated so here.

I don't think it's THAT BIG - at least the serious floods. However I'm not sure about the size of how the water has spread.

All I know is that Brisbane (capital of Queensland) has basically been swamped. Some towns are estimated to peak at 20m of water? Or something.

The pic of the Kangaroos actually makes be kind of sad, because the reality is there is a lot of wildlife that probably wasn't 'saved'.

My great aunt lives on the top of a hill, so she's OK....

interesting how during this event we have seen female talking heads on our tv screens in positions of authority...
    julia gillard - pm
    anna bligh - premier
    quentin bryce - governor-general
julie bishop - acting opposition leader

    no men looking after us?!

bligh comes across as much more natural than gillard on the teev. gillard seems so forced and gesticulates with her hands too much.

Maybe that's the problem. Simultaneous flow. Queensland sinks. I'm not a scientist but that's a clear case of cause and effect if I've ever seen one.
