I think Sara Palin's crosshairs and Sharron Angle's warning that there will be 2nd amendment remedies had a part to play. There's been a lot of talk about "revolution," and subsequently (I think consequently) an increase in threats of violence in the name of political causes. It bothers me a lot that BooHoo Boehner did not go to the service. I believe that communicates something to his base, something that is not reassuring.

What part did they play? Did President Obama's "If they bring a knife, we bring a gun" rhetoric have a part to play? What influence did Palin and Angle have on this young man was not a Tea Partier or political conservative?

As much as I dislike Boehner, there's another explanation for him not going to the memorial: there was another memorial planned (not by him) in DC at the same time, and if he hadn't gone then both senate party leaders would have been absent the DC memorial.

Yeah, after the other memorial. Was he supposed to go home and pray?

Congressmen whining about not getting enough time off for Christmas bothers me. Boehner's lack of attendance doesn't bother me at all.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."
