[QUOTE=ajblaise;1435914. The only difference is that you have more gun nuts on the Right. [/QUOTE]

I have no problem if the Left decides to increase its percentage of 'gun nuts' in response to this disparity.

I'm always counting on the more gun-friendly communists, far-left socialists, and Left anarchists to increase in their numbers. But am always left disappointed.

Like, we need another Students for a Democratic Society and a Weather Underground to compete with the Right.

We disagree once again; there's always room for cute dogs, and cute kitty cats should be mandatory for all threads (yes, I've already mentioned my weakness for cats in the 'what's the gayest thing about you?' thread).

You know, you might have been a good right-of-center mod to help balance things out, but not anymore.

    At the very least this:

    is pretty damned inflammatory.

A Palin staffer defended the above graphic, saying, "We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights ... It was simply crosshairs like you'd see on maps."

Riiiight. Maybe we've been watching too much Sarah Palin's Alaska, but somehow we weren't thinking about cartography when we saw this. Or when she Tweeted at "Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America [to] RELOAD!"

I think it is unfair to lay this travesty at the feet of either the "Conservatives" or the "Liberals." The vitriol he spewed on his YouTube account shows his ideology crystal clearly and, if anything, he was an anarchist, in my opinion. He is clearly anti-establishment and he has a history of conflict with Rep. Giffords that dates back to 2007 when she was holding a similar town-hall type event. This was long before Palin took center stage with her cross-hairs and gun metaphors.

I think that the constructive thing to do in light of this situation is not to cast blame, but for the politicians and citizens to take an objective look at where were currently stand as a country. The divisive tone and politics must end or more groups of Americans will become alienated and extreme. We are not the America we once were and that is a fact we must face and accept before we can move forward and solve the problems we are facing.

I am so weary of the endless he said, she said politics that accomplish nothing but an epic amount of time wasted. That I will lay at the feet of the politicians and pundits. They are stewards of the political conversation in this country and they need to take their position of leadership seriously and with reverence, responsibility above ratings.

I agree with this. Both major parties need to take responsibility for the rhetoric they're spewing and the climate they're creating. Sure, fearmongering drums up more votes. But it also creates an environment rife with paranoia and divisiveness, going so far as to complete Other the other side to mask the fact that the motives are the same, and often, the results are the same. I would love to see radio stations and 24-hour news stations scale back programs that do nothing but present one-sided ranting to make listeners feel better about their already narrow views. I don't know if it's going to happen. I think things like this get used as pawns in the political game, rather than wake-up calls. This one, in the great political PR game, will end up going to the Democrats, and still nobody wins. I'm just tired of it all, from both sides. It's the song that never ends.
