It's too bad he's, like, three times your age... it could have been the start of something beautiful.

Then again, in 1999, on air, he actually said changing one's gender wasn't a sin (which probably flies in the face of the CW of his listening base)... a statement his handlers were later trying to distance/qualify for him. I thought that was funny. You just never know what will come out of Pat's mouth when he's winging it.

I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my handle and here is my spout. Every time I steam up, I give a shout. Just tip me over and pour me out.

Yeah, its all I think I can add to these discussions now.

There's a consensus on this forum which is solidly libertarian, in particular its in favour of drug use, if not directly or personally then as a consequence of being worried about being considered judgemental, conservative, authoritarian or any of a bunch of other things.

I've also gotten to the point where I think its pointless to argue against legalisation of drugs, the banks have exhausted pretty much every other avenue for profit there is, its not just the interests of the 1% at stake anymore but hedge funds and pension funds, if that doesnt swing it there are a whole bunch of other economic/market forces pressures which will.

There's been a virtual kultur kampf on for a long time in favour of drug use, objectively in favour of it even when it wont say so in so many words because there's not even a skepticism, apprehension or wariness about drugs.

This is the most surprising thing I have heard all year. It like when George Wallace announced that he was a born-again Christian in the late 1970s, and apologized to black civil rights leaders for his earlier segregationist views.

It can't be you, it must be everyone else.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."
