    I love wiki-leaks.

It's a movement that aims to treat the world electorate with the respect it deserves.

I suspect Merkel likes the way she has been described.

Ya or not. You never know what lengths you have to go thru to be in certain positions. Especially bureaucracy does deface you beyond all recognition

The politicians needs to stop cry so much about this. Its not an attack on democracy, its exactly what democracy is about. Exposing those politicians that are too imcompetent to be in office. Governmental officials reponse to this is not shocking. Its sort of needed in a situation like this. But when politicians starts calling wikileaks as a terror organization and want them black listed, they are really just doing it for selfinterests and show they have no respect for the people they represent. Playing the patriot card is so disrespectful to the public and only shows how stupid people are for buying this from corrupt politicians.

Whistleblowers are needed in any form of government. Those hungry for power and money needs to be regulated, not protected.

What I do see as a problem is this falls right in to the lap of those that want higher security, harsher laws on internet, like what websites a government finds to be against their interests.
I am sure that there may be some exceptions and I do not know all of the details yet but in general I agree with this above sentiment.

Obama/Bush outrage at this should be as to their own military security protocols (don't they encrypt any of this stuff anymore?) not the publishers. The fact that Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, is now suddenly being charged with rape (a crime like murder where it is easier to expedite extradition procedures) seems very suspicious spy v spy stuff/smear campaign.
I redact everything I have written or will write on this forum prior to, subsequent with and or after the fact of its writing. For entertainment purposes only and not to be taken seriously nor literally.

I don't think it's a big deal, but I do love the title of this thread.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

It is a big deal because of the exceptionally strong stance against journalism left in the wake of these leaks. Tell the truth, become a terrorist. It isn't a very good move to be honest under such circumstances.

    Information wants to be free.

Print created secrecy, but electronic information can be copied and distributed at a moment's notice.

Print not only created secrecy but also privacy. But secrecy and privacy are over. But we haven't quite got our minds around this yet, never mind learning how to use our new found freedom.

We are suffering from the fear of freedom.

Fortunately we live in a res publica, a republic, where our business is supposed to be conducted in public.

    Well, now it is.
