There is no significant aversion to "violent" sports or martial arts in US culture that I am aware of.

^^^ Agreed. Here in the Midwest, MMA is pretty damned popular. I went to a family function when I was still with my ex, one of her cousins competes. The older women were just following him around like little puppy dogs

I do have to mention that there is a rift between MMA and some of the Martial Arts world. A lot of people think that the popularity of MMA is detracting from traditional Martial Arts, and takes away emphasis from some of the more beautiful aspects of MA.

^ A great point. MMA training however, has (in my experience) been quite disciplined and eastern in philosophy.

It's all the glitter affliction shirt wearing douche bags you see everywhere that give MMA a bad name.

If people got a chance to see how chill most fighters and those training to fight are, I think it would change a lot of misconceptions.

MMA is as much a clash of concept as it is a clash between fighters. That so many unique approaches are viable for this competition makes it all the more interesting. Philosophically, there are a number of ways to create a real fighter, and that so many of these can be measured through competition means that sport will possess dynamics beyond many traditional competitions.

I don't think americans are against martial arts, any more than the rest of the world is against baseball, or north american football. It's just not a part of our culture.

    LOL

Martial arts and fighting are acceptable, as long as in moderation.

They should develop some technology that can minimize the pain or like turn your body into metal. That way, more people can fight against each other and practice it.
