Don't knock it until you try it. It could be just the right fit for me, maybe not.

If lenders had played by the rules, i.e. already-extant law, said bubble would either never have happened or would have been a mere shadow of what we're dealing with now.
That wasnt directed at you, I was just saying, I believe there is a general trend towards what I'd describe as "friendly fascism", that's fascism which doesnt give itself away so much and I think what you've already talked about, I just mentioned libertarianism because it is the only voguish alternative likely to exhert any pressure on the existing system and trend but I see it accelerating not inhibiting it.

To be honest I think without a workable socialism being created some kind of fascism is what happens in complex machine age societies, particularly if some trauma or crisis has happened.

So, opponents of capitalism, democracy and liberty, tell me what the better choice is? (as far as style of governance is concerned)

It's easy to tear shit down.

Not quite as easy to erect better shit in its place...

Our representative democracy is (STILL) the best thing going.

We, as a society, need to stop viewing and treating white collar crime as relatively victimless (compared to violent crime).
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

    What to you think?

true if you're a straight white male with money, otherwise being a republican at any age is heartless and mindless. not that the democratic party isn't completely fucked up too, but 99% of politicians are. i am young though, so who knows. i could be a republican by the time i'm 40. but just the thought of that disgusts me so i really hope not.

Weird, I think some sort of bug caused me to post that twice.

And you're right, I am talking about crimes like embezzling and fraud. With white collar crimes, it's almost as though the bigger the crime the less trouble for the offenders. If you defraud one person, you go to jail. If you defraud 300,000,000 people, the government bails you out.
