mmm...I know several young Republicans, and I wouldn't call them heartless - it's mainly that they were born into upper-middle class families and have no concept of exactly *why* anyone would be a Democrat. All three young Republicans I can think of off the top of my head are males from similar socio-economic background, but are actually quite moderate, have more liberal social views to some extent, aren't the religious type of Republican, and are still sensible enough to be Republicans rather than Libertarians.

Of course, back home in the South I know lots of nutty way far-right leaning religious Republicans that are still young, but we won't get into that. And that's mostly in North Carolina, not in West Virginia. People in WV still largely tend to be liberal even though it's considered part of the South.

Also, I think Hillary Clinton is one of the most intelligent women I can think of, and she's kind of old, so the assertion that old Democrats have "no mind" is kind of retarded.

    It's a retarded cliche.

I think he was paraphrasing Churchill who was paraphrasing someone else who suggested that by a certain age if you wherent socialist you where heartless but if you didnt abandon it by a later age you where mindless.

I dont agree with it, age shouldnt make you reject the things which where true when you where young. Truth is perrenial.

We also need to keep in mind that "Democrat" and "Republican" didn't even mean the same thing back then.

I think Republican principles are too soft, and I'm 22. So what does that make me...?

This the the way it's worked for me, as well. I was a lot more conservative when I was younger. I'd actually thought about joining the Repub Party for a while but they (the repubs) cured me of that notion. I'm definitely a pinko.

I started out quite conservative then leaned a little liberal and now I've found where I'm comfortable, as a moderate conservative.

Depending on what "principles" those are - you don't seem like the religious type, so I'm going to presume the right answer would be "Anarcho-Capitalist Libertarian."

Not especially surprising to me considering your narcissism score and other visible character traits.

    anarchism is inherently ridiculous.

So is libertarianism (though I will admit I swallowed the natural rights tripe once upon a time -- I was young, and my Fi was out of control). I'm actually a Hoppean statist and producerist. A far-right populist, pretty much.

And no, I'm not religious, but I do see church authority as very socially beneficial.
