    Default Windpower and windmills?

Do you hate or support the idea of windpower and windmills? I cant understand the middleclass tendency to hate other sorts of power generation but to campaign against windmills as spoiling the countryside, even when its private farmers diversifying and put them up on their land by themselves.

    Windmills or wind turbines?
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

This is just downright silly! I'd say urban expansion spoils the countryside a lot more than wind turbines!!

Actually earlier this week I drove down to northern Iowa with my husband for his uncle's funeral, and there is a wind farm along the way (in southern MN). All of a sudden, in the middle of the countryside, there are about 50 wind turbines. It's quite beautiful, actually.

This might not be the same one, but it more or less looks like this:

I have heard some theories that the low-frequency noise and the light flickering caused by the turbines could be detrimental to human health, but I don't know how much credence that holds. And many other types of widely-used power have the potential to harm human health as well, so I can't really see that as a valid argument against wind power.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

I think wind power is great and we should invest heavily in it. Same goes for solar. But there needs to be a realistic understanding that as nice as these things are, they currently cannot (and may never) generate the force necessary for heavy industry. For those things, we pretty much have to look to nuclear or hydro-electric (if you want to skip fossil fuels).

For those who are worried about the environmental affect of wind turbines, what are they comparing to? Oil, coal, and gas screw with the environment quite a bit more.
    Go to sleep, iguana.

Check out my link. There's some technologies which can be more efficient than wind turbines.
