If the U.S. invaded Canada, Russia would back Canada, since they don't want the U.S. to have access across their entire northern border. Bad enough with Alaska being there.
Since Canada is an oil and natural resource rich country, China would probably have an issue with the U.S. invasion, not so much concern about another sovereign nation but concern about the implications to global power.
There are also historical implications with the U.K. (colony, dominion, 1812). Whether this would matter, who knows.
Its bound to happen one day but the thought of it is sad.
Canadians as a whole are so nice.
If Canada doesn't cow-toe its national sovereignty to US, then the US is bound to one day find a contrived reason to attack them and fuck up their country like its done to itself.
I would still be loyal to US like a child to its crack smoking mother but would not be happy with this...or for the most part any other invasion by the US. The comedy Canadian Bacon is not far from the truth.
PS. US would win in a heartbeat if it was serious. If the Canadians didn't immediately surrender or have some power players in its alliance like the EU or China it would be an immediate slaughter.

I seriously doubt we will see open warfare between 'Western' democracies in the foreseeable future but if Canada and the US did start a war I imagine it would go one of two ways:
1. quick US victory 2. long guerilla war, 50/50 chance of victory
This is what I was thinking, considering the US doesn't exactly have the best track record in assymetrical warfare. Then again, it wouldn't be good for Canadian morale to think that every single American household is armed to the teeth.
Also, to say that Canada kicked USA's ass in 1812 is like saying the US kicked the French's ass in the French and Indian war.
