Default First genetically modified animal for human consumption.

The Associated Press: Fish or frankenfish? FDA weighs altered salmon

Personally, I think it looks delicious. And salmon costs too damn much as it is.
    Wouldn't hesitate to eat it.

I remember reading about the practical application for this years ago. Finally!

Now if they can just get over the hurdles that stopped rBST in its tracks... I doubt anyone can reason with the doom & gloom alarmists and eco-terrorists, but I can dream...

The fact that the organism produces ITS OWN hormone is just awesome and I can't believe we didn't take this approach from the start. I mean, why bother injecting the information into another organism and harvesting it later when you can just tell a single organism to grow like crazy... Silly 1990s, truly the dark ages of biotechnology.

Still waiting for that animal that wants to be eaten to be added to the menu.

I hope that when I die, something eats me. I often held cherished thoughts of my loved ones spreading my ashes into a clean river or sea, but I would much rather feed something the bulk of my useless husk. A burial at sea would probably be the best funeral for me, lots of hungry critters, no necrophilia, its perfect. Wait what?

I've always said that I want to be chopped up and put into my relative's food. Then as they are almost done eating their meal, I want my lawyer to read out my will and tell them that the dinner was literally on me. It'll be my biggest and last prank.

What bothered me most about this story when I heard it on the radio was that an "eco-friendly" pig was on the way as well.

The idea that we need to genetically manufacture an "eco-friendly" pig seems stupid to me on face.

I will do my best to avoid eating this salmon.

We would have done it differently, using careful breeding techniques, but now we can skip all that crap and go directly to the result we want. Humans have been genetically engineering organisms for thousands of years.
