Oh, who knows? Not me. I've never been a survivalist type.

Depends on what happens, of course. On the plus side, if we have to go to what is in effect a barter economy, I've got some pretty versatile skills, and I can farm if need be.

It could be that there isn't any "social collapse" and the government would just implement a command economy. In that case, my above assets would still apply.

    Oh.

Because, you know, people do not usually try to scare unless they're trying to sell something. Why tell the passengers the plane's going to crash? It only stirs them up into a tizzy and distracts the pilot from doing anything. I just automatically assumed you had a bunch of sheep and gold for sale and a bunch of daughters you needed to get rid of.

Nah. This thread is more about "Hey, by the way, do you happen to see that writing over there on the wall?"

I have no doubt that the world will continue to turn, and people will continue to laugh, love, eat, sleep, be born, and die.

But anyone who tells you that the recession's over... they're the ones selling something.

And the people selling me gold aren't?

My plan was to just kill myself. I'm too squeamish to live already, there's really no use for me if anything changes.

Well of course they are, by definition... but I don't listen to those guys, I don't care about those guys, and I have nothing to do with those guys. Like I said, I've never been a survivalist.

I'm not selling anything. I probably should be... I could use the extra cash. Or eggs. Or gold. Or whatever.

If you need another handyman on your survivalist scenario farm, i'm up for it
Farming is useless in Sweden, anyway. (Just one crop per year).
If the "shit hits the fan" () just tell me where to be, and i'll start rowing my dinghy across the great pond

I really hope you'll say something like "Oregon", "Kansas" or such.
Wait, you live in NC. That's good farming country, right?

Yes it is. Good hunting country, too.

Sounds awesome. How many do you reckon will die during the first year or two?
It'd be good to start out as a farmhand and later staking out some land of my own nearby or such.
There'd have to be room for that, of course, which is why I asked how many will die.
    Any estimate?
