Default Google, Verizon 'propose' net-neutrality 'framework'.

Game over, guys. The Great Google Beast will soon create the Googleacolypse and we will all be turned into mindless product-consuming zombies. Oh wait, most people already are mindless product-consuming zombies. Google for president! And congress! And the supreme court! Etc! The United States of Google!

Google, Verizon propose Net neutrality framework | Signal Strength - CNET News

CEOs from Google and Verizon Communications on Monday announced a proposal to policymakers for keeping the Internet open.
The companies jointly suggested a legislative framework for consideration by lawmakers. The major breakthrough in the proposal is an agreement that the nondiscrimination clause that the Federal Communications Commission has proposed as part of its regulatory efforts would be enforceable.
"We agree that, in addition to these existing principles, there should be a new, enforceable prohibition against discriminatory practices," the proposal states. (See entire document embedded below.) "This means that for the first time, wireline broadband providers would not be able to discriminate against or prioritize lawful Internet content, applications, or services in a way that causes harm to users or competition."

In September last year, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski proposed turning the commission's four principles of network openness into official regulation. And he suggested that the FCC add two more "principles" as part of these new rules.
It is interesting to think about this epic battle in which superpowers tackle each other, and their ultimate goal, the reason they make war, is so that they can run us, own us. Man, I feel special. Someone needs me, almost!

    This will not end well...
But it will at least be poetic, I suppose...

Hmm... But what if it does end well?
Then I suppose it will be a different sort of poetry, a preferable sort...
A sort I could become accustomed to...

My only regret is that if I wasn't a mindless, product-consuming zombie then, I will be soon. I don't want to lose my mind.

i'm curious what it does say to you when corporate interests come together to propose frameworks for legislating an issue that involves them directly?

It reminds me of how I go about handling my political stock, or votes if you will. Specifically, how can I make this system work better for everyone, but best for me?

hmm would it be accurate to say then that if the system works better for everyone then business-wise it works better for you?

i think what it is that might concern some, myself included, is when the desires of consumer become at odds with those of the producer, especially when there is a strong drive to take it to the next level from business-policy to legal policy; at what point does what's best for me (the consumer) become a loss for the producer, and what happens then? I'm inclined to assume that my concerns don't win here and thus why i become a little curious and skeptical.

my point is that i think calling it a conspiracy is going too far, but i do wonder exactly how much the consumer has to benefit from corporate-sponsored legislation in relation to the business in question and how heavily the ratio learns towards that of the corporation in cases like these.

It would best to be both a consumer and a producer simultaneously, but this may out of some peoples' reach. One would hope that all citizens would and could produce something, at least during a portion of their lifetimes.
