    Haven't you heard?

Christians are the only people whose faith you can publically sneer at with impunity.

(This appears to be mainly because the Christians won't strap on ten pounds of C-4 and blow themselves up in your office building, but then that's another issue...)

Pressure rises on pastor who wants to burn Quran - Yahoo! News

Sure, it's done with questionable taste, just like building a Mosque at ground zero, but he's a private citizen in America exercising his rights. Shouldn't he have the right to offend?
Well it's a good thing no one is building a Mosque at ground zero. It's actually a community center two blocks away from ground zero.

Also burning books is dumb regardless of the book. If someone wants to declare a "national dumbass day", then he invites mockery and other negative attention.

It's going to be a circus. I guess the fire department will be waiting for the first match to be struck, and then they supposedly have the power to put it out. Because while small fires with kindling are allowed in those ordinates, the ink from the Koran apparently counts as a toxin and therefore against the law to burn in that area. Kind of a convoluted way to stop it.

Christians get made fun of more in the US, but Islam probably gets more hate.

There are millions of Muslims who had nothing to do with 9/11 but somehow they are being punished/condemned too by some crazy fucking pastor burning a book they hold sacred. Religion didn't turn some of Islam violent. Their political and economic situations did.

Apparently, the congregation of the church where the Koran burning is to occur is comprised of approximately 50 persons. It seems that the pastor is using this conflagration as a recruitment tool, to get like-minded persons to join his church (hence adding more donations to the collection plate). I don't know why the media is giving this guy so much attention, however. I was really happy with Hillary Clinton when she suggested that the media could just ignore the whole mindless episode. (of course, the entire episode could... um... backfire if there's a strong wind and the church itself catches fire!!!!!!!)
