It's not beyond the realm of possibility that you were thinking of the thread generally as an atheism thread and forgot the thread also made a claim that atheism is the "most disliked minority." I know it took me a few moments to connect the dots when I saw Disco's post.

It is very probable that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES would you ever admit that Disco was right and you were wrong.
Take the weakest thing in you
And then beat the bastards with it
And always hold on when you get love
So you can let go when you give it

I have made it a habit to think before I speak.

This group does not at all agree with my vision of American society...

    Atheist: 39.6%
    Muslims: 26.3%
    Homosexuals: 22.6%
    Hispanics: 20%
    Conservative Christians: 13.5%
    Recent Immigrants: 12.5%
    Jews: 7.6%

I would disapprove if my child wanted to marry a member of this group....

    Atheist: 47.6%
    Muslim: 33.5%
    African-American 27.2%
    Asian-Americans: 18.5%
    Hispanics: 18.5%
    Jews: 11.8%
    Conservative Christians: 6.9%
    Whites: 2.3%
Although you can oppose gay marriage for any number of idiotic reasons, I would expect all conservative Christians - at least in the US - to oppose it. That would place Mr. Eich at more or less the same percentage of societal disapproval as a conservative Christian, meaning: well below that of atheists.

Additionally, I think that Mr. Eich's case is far from being representative. He received the bulk of shit from younger generations, internet people, not society at large, which consists of far more reactionaries and a lot fewer social justice warriors than the former crowd.

To prove you are a man, a proposition very much in doubt if you leave now!

I am actually in a rather good mood today, working on a long-postponed paper whose introduction I just finished.

Ohhhhhhh! Didn't even see those dots, myself. I read the entire article, expecting atheism to pop up, and when I got to the end thought "Yup, misplaced post."

Anyhow, yeah, I'm sure that Eich did feel like a disliked minority in the office when his donation habits came out.

I'll be in Germany this fall, I guess I can prove to you that I'm a man then.
