I wonder how scientologists would have ranked if they were included in that poll.
Really I'm surprised that atheists were disliked so much more than Muslims. People are much more tolerant of Muslims than I gave them credit for.
The most hated religious groups have to be scientologists and Mormons, and probably those goddamn Jehovah's Witnesses. If I'm in my house, isn't that kind of a sign that I don't want to be bothered? :steam:

Agreed but there's more to it than that. Many theists that don't have close contact with those that openly atheist on a everyday basis have been fooled into believing that atheists must be wicked because they 'lack the moral grounding that religion provides'. That perceived moral unpredictability gives them a reason to fear/despise atheists.
Clearly education is the key here...
This is just from my perspective; but just because someone is an Atheist doesn't mean that they lack morals. In fact most Atheists that I know have some sort of moral code. You don't have to have a religion to be a moralistic person. I mean, anyone with a brain should be able to know that.
I'm just bitter about highly religious, closed minded and judgmental people is all.
but the whole point of being atheist is being faithless...
That's the theory, but many atheists commonly like to claim being atheist also means adhereing to certain precepts of their own; namely the supremacy of science and reason. This also means having a dog in the Evolution debates. Also for whatever reason, the concept that disbelief in God does not necessarily mean disrespect for religion in toto is lost in the mix as well.
