People don't seem as much into foreign politics at MBTIc, unless they live overseas. The topic came up immediately on INTPc yesterday.

(Just.... freaky. I had never even heard of her until just the day before, when I read a Newsweek article about her, and the very next day... Wow.)

I guess that's one positive of INTPc.

Still seems a bit hyper for my tastes.

Well, I am very interested in foreign politics.

Yeah, this sucks, and I was a bit sad when i heard what happened, but not at all surprised. Upon her return from exile there was the huge suicide bombing meant for her, not to mention the repeated, public threats against her life. And consider that her security was provided my Musharraf himself! Her death seemed inevitable to me.

What does her death mean? I'm not exactly sure.
I don't think she would have been a great leader, she certainly had her stains, but she probably would have been better than Musharraf.
I think, in practical terms and immediate terms, this will hurt the Democratic process, but I think in the bigger picture, this will help.
Pakistani democracy now has a martyr. A pretty one, too.
The spirits roused by this event might ultimately put an end to power-mongers in the long run.

Her death will bring NOTHING good by my thoughts. The country is already FUBAR and this will only divide people even further.

Also makes me sad because I remember an article in Glamour a few years ago in which they asked different women about thier husband's celebrity crushes- one woman responded that her husband had a huge crush on Benazir Bhutto, which disturbed her more than if it were some celebrity bimbo because a hot prime minister is a REAL threat to one's self confidence!

I have heard of Benazir, and I am sad that this has happened to this brave woman by cowardly savages. I hope the Pakistani people rise up in anger over these radicals.

Unfortunately, I don't know that much on Pakistani politics, so can only offer the silly angle of what would Sona have written about all this.

    I'm sure it will. Sadly.

Just heard that Salman Rushdie's sister went to school with Benazir Bhutto. Rushdie himself went to school in Bombay, then King's College in Cambridge. Bhutto was educated at Harvard.
