Default Should individuals prosecuted for child neglect, cruelty or abuse be sterilised?

Should individuals who are prosecuted for child neglect, cruelty or abuse be sterilised? With whatever provisions can be made for saving or storing embryos or eggs or sperm should they at a later date present as truly reformed characters and want children?

I'm actually in favour of more comprehensive eugenics than this but I thought I'd kick off the topic here.

    Absofuckinglutely.

There's a HUGE difference of opinions on what actually constitutes abuse. To my mind, legislation already goes too far in pushing one particular vision of childrearing onto the population, on pain of punishment.

I'm going to have to agree. But there should definitely be some repercussions of the highest order for those cases. At least within the boundaries of humane treatment. From what I hear, most people who get locked up for child abuse catch plenty of hell in prison.

OK guys, so if someone neglects or brutalises a kid, pretty much ruining that individuals life and no doubt others, since no one who was messed up to my knowledge by bad parenting keep the aftermath to themselves, they shoud be just able to do it again in nine months? Possibly fathering kids to a bunch of different women who arent capable of looking after them and will inevitably give them up to the state to be looked after?

There's a lot permitted to spare the feelings of degenerates from the look of things.

They started proposing a "name and shame" scheme in the UK for child abusers, to make it harder for them to find and fool people in the future.

I dunno... I think basically if communities still existed, proper communities where neighbours know each other and kids are allowed freedom to play outdoors, then communities would generally solve these issues within themselves. That is, in a close-knit and healthy community, everyone knows where the dodgy people are, and to stay away from them.
