If I were president for a day,

I'd lower the drinking age to 9
I'd legalize marijuana, heroin, and the sex slave trade
I'd make it illegal for women to wear clothes
    Free Corvets for EVVVVERRYONE
    Gas would be free
Murder would become legal, and in some states, encouraged
Ax and knife throwing would become the American Past-Time
Evolution would be taught instead of Math
    and last but not least..
God would be EVERYBODIES home boy

    OWS 4 prezz, 2012.
Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

Well, I love the US overall, but the things I hate about it, in no particular order:

    1. Our incarceration rate/drug laws/police
    2. Suburban sprawl
    3. The level of religiosity vis-a-vis Europe
    4. Lack of a good and affordable interstate passenger train service
    5. LA and the LA Lakers
    6. The NY Yankees
    7. The Dallas Cowboys
    8. The history of slavery and Jim Crow
    9. The lack of a just cause standard of termination of employment contract as the norm
    10. Lack of a single-payer healthcare system (or lack of any sensible system for ensuring healthcare coverage for that matter)
    11. Our imperialist foreign policy and unjustified military/intelligence interventions.

I'm pretty satisfied or happy with most other things about my country, though.

I think this country's great, but I definitely hate certain aspects like:

Crazy urban sprawl (and not being able to bike/bus to places reliably)
    Dependence on oil
    Polarized politics and political parties
    Arbitrary drug laws
    Workaholism
    GMC
    Over-emphasis on higher education
    Over-incarceration
    Strip malls
    Fat
    New Jersey
    Wars
    Faith on bureaucracy over responsibility

    And most of all...
    Consumerism

Seriously, what would be the point of hating people who are already their own worst enemy ?

I just think it's kinda hilarious, the whole fear of the Red Threat thing. I mean, how the C word can still be thrown out to automatically "denounce" anything that smells of social responsibility.

You should've seen how I laughed when, in the ad break from a news item about Obama's planned national health programme, there was an advert for a new Rambo movie. Rambo. Fighting the Commies! In 2010! Priceless!

    God, how I laughed

"Fascism" is an actual ideological concept, and sometimes also used to describe a certain ideological category. So it's not semantics here. It is however a clear case of sophistry to label anything you disagree with as "fascist" and try to find some vague parallel to what happened in Italy under Mussolini, or Germany under Hitler. Just like it's sophistry to label everything you dislike as "socialism" and draw parallels to the Soviet Union.
YES! I hate how people are unable to grasp the concept that just because fascism is an authoritarian and reactionary ideology, that doesn't necessarily make every authoritarian and reactionary ideology/movement fascist.

Most of the movements/people/ideologies that people label as "fascist" are missing the key element of corporatism and merging of classes/interests into the body of the state.

What's so bad about Jersey? I mean, I like making fun of Jersey as much as the next guy, but in all reality it actually ain't that bad. Parts of Jersey City and Newark are actually quite awesome, especially the Ironbound.

It's actually 5 in the UK. Drinking laws here go like this:

At 5 you can drink alcohol on private premises with parent's and premises owner's consent. IOW, at home, at Aunty Joyce's house, whatever.

At 14 you can drink one glass of wine or pint of beer with a meal bought in a pub, accompanied by an adult.

At 16 you can go into a pub without an adult and have a meal or buy non-alcoholic drinks. You can still drink your single glass of wine, as long as an adult buys it for you.

At 18 you can buy and drink what and however much you like, wherever and whenever you like.
