I hate how Americans will find any excuse to hate themselves.

I could quote quite a lot of definitions from various encyclopedias but i won't bother.

    Ahistorical? Maybe..
    Inaccurate? Hardly..

History is in constant flux, concepts isn't.

And I could cite the writings of fascistic leaders and thinkers themselves, along with much of the major scholarship on the topic as well. To claim that America today is "fascist' in any significant way just shows intellectual laziness.

Listen - this isn't an intellectual pissing match.

Does America today mirror the historically fascist nations like Italy and Germany? Not at all.

Does it somehow fit the definition, and is heading slowly but steadily towards fascistic tendencies? Definitely.

Intellectual laziness in the form of cutting corners to communicate ideas in which there is not the place nor time to go into depth, yeah.

If you understood my meaning, great. If you want to play semantics, go play somewhere else..

Indeed it isn't - cause you would loose badly.

"Fascism" is an actual ideological concept, and sometimes also used to describe a certain ideological category. So it's not semantics here. It is however a clear case of sophistry to label anything you disagree with as "fascist" and try to find some vague parallel to what happened in Italy under Mussolini, or Germany under Hitler. Just like it's sophistry to label everything you dislike as "socialism" and draw parallels to the Soviet Union.

It's commonly thought that narcissism is self love, but rather an extreme preoccupation with oneself is a sign of self hate.

    What I hate about Muricans:

    • the therapeutic, Puritan ethos that we are the sinners and The Other is always good
    • the therapeutic, Puritan ethos that acting like good Christians (turning the other cheek, helping the poor, etc.) leads to strength and prosperity, even for atheists
    • the consumerist tolerance of all points of view, no matter how irrational or depraved
    • the mental, physical, and moral obesity
    • the absolute sense of entitlement, as if wants are rights
    • the Mickey Mouse egalitarianism that despite our differences, we're all the same underneath
    • the Mickey Mouse idea that you should always follow your dream, no matter what the consequences
    • the blind optimistic faith that the world is constituted by problems that each have a solution-- all endings for Muricans are happy endings.
    • the secular Calvinism that failure is not due to risks and limits in the world, but is always a moral failing. Shit happens, gotta blame someone! Or sue someone!
    • taking technological progress as a law of nature, as if resources just resource themselves without intellect and initiative-- the universe as Burger King, my way right away
    Yeah, that's a good start.

    • I hate the absurd level of spending in the name of “national defense”. We provide roughly 48% of the world’s military expenditure, almost more than all 195 other countries combined. We spend far more on blowing people up than on educating our next generation.
    • I hate the bloated public educational system focused on pumping out a standardized yet mediocre product.
    • I hate said educational system’s failure to adapt to the Informational Economy and its insistence that mindless rote memorization, that may very well have been useful in the pre-60’s Industrial Economy, is still of any use. God knows that any changes in it have been superficial at best since the Space Age.
    • I hate the U.S.’s attempt to spread “freedom” through the bombing out of civilian targets and the convenient takeover of their resources.
    • I hate the U.S. War Economy focused around attacking small, easily defeatable countries every ten years or more.
    • I hate our utter failure to meet even the top ten in science and mathematics testing and the putrid anti-intellectualism that fills American culture.
    • I hate the incestuous affair between large corporations such as Lockheed Martin and the defense department of the country.
    • I hate the political tickets focus on non-primary issues such as gay marriage in order to detract from more relevant problems.
    • I hate the absurd belief among several U.S. citizens that the United States is the only Democratic Republic in the world and that every other country is either 3rd world or fascist.
    • I hate the “Love It or Leave It” mentality that proliferates from this, the mindless patriotism, and the complete disinterest in making an effort to better the country at the expense of government power.
    • I hate the country’s god-awful world geographical education and its citizen’s complete disinterest in the world outside.
    • I hate the utter and complete apathy in regard to finding alternative power supplies given that the oil problem has been lingering since the 70’s.

As you can see I’m a rather hateful person.

    Smile The Lucky Country

I think it is very important to know what one hates, because then one knows what one isn't and doesn't want to be.

So I hate Religion, Revolution, Civil War and One Party States.

On the other hand I love the Enlightenment, national independence gained through peaceful negotiation, and national unity (federation) gained also through peaceful negotiation, and a Parliament based on Parties with different values, histories and constituents.

But then I live in the Lucky Country so what can you expect.
